It’s real…. WE’RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!

Holy Mickey ears, this is really happening!

We have been BEGGING my husband to go to Disney World for months now. One day I nonchalantly told him about some specials Disney was offering…and then I heard the words, “Book it.” What!? Was he serious!? After asking, “Are you sure?” about a million times, I couldn’t believe I was calling to book our magical vacation I have dreamed of for so long. Taking my kids to Disney World has been on my bucket list before I even had kids.

Seth has never been to Disney in over fifteen years. I have gone with my high school dance team for two days, but I have never been on “vacation” there. The two days I was there, I only saw a fraction of what was available, so this will be like a first time trip for everyone. I know we will not be going back anytime soon, so I wanted this to be as magical for our girls as possible. The first item on the list was figuring out how to tell them.

We booked our trip when we had 65 days left to leave…crazy, right!? Especially for first-timers. We decided it would be their Christmas present from us, and we would tell them on Christmas morning. I had been bursting at the seams for weeks. Each time Kennedy would say something about Disney, I would just want to spill the beans.

Two days before our big announcement, our awesome travel agent with Magic of Mickey Travel sent us some goodies in the mail. She knew the trip was a surprise, and sent a letter from the princesses telling Kennedy and Jules where they would be going soon. I had big tears rolling down my face reading the mail. I’m an emotional wreck! I’ll probably cry the entire time we are there.

On Christmas morning, they woke up to see everything Santa had brought them. After the hype of the morning died down, we gave them their present from Mom and Dad.

After dreaming, planning, reading travel books, reading blogs on Disney, counting down, booking flights, planning some more, and packing, we finally have 8 more days until we leave. To say I’m ecstatic is an understatement. I cannot wait to see the magic that awaits us :)

Christmas Day 2014

After putting out milk and cookies for Santa, the girls (surprisingly) went to sleep quite fast. At one point when I was laying with them, Kennedy asked me, “Mom, am I sleeping yet?!”

IMG_3296

He spoke not a word,
but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings—
then turned with a jerk;

And laying his finger
aside of his nose,
And giving a nod,
up the chimney he rose!

The girls were up at 6:15am on Christmas morning. Mamma was armed and ready with the camera.

Kennedy was so excited with her Magical Pumpkin Palace Pet. Seth and I had so much fun chasing Harley with this toy…Harley is terrified of it, poor thing.

As if we don’t have enough babies in this house, Santa brought ANOTHER baby! Her name is Stella, and Jules LOVES her…she is such the little momma.

IMG_3312

The BIG surprise came next…from Mommy & Daddy. I don’t know how I kept this in for so long. It was killing me. Detailed blog post to come :)

IMG_3334

Next we headed to Nana & Grampi’s for the day. It was a beautiful day, and the kids enjoyed playing in the leaves.

Jules was so tired, she laid herself down on the treadmill and fell asleep :) That’s when you know you need a nap!

IMG_3331

We ended the night on our sofa in front of a fire. Mommy and Daddy watched a movie while our little blessings slept next to us…perfect ending to another wonderful Christmas :)

Then something exciting happened! SANTA called!! Kennedy called for Jules to go listen next to her…and she put her arm around Jules while she held the phone. Makes me smile :)

Until Next Year, Herbie!

One day I heard Kennedy yell, “Maaaaammmaaa!!!” I immediately thought Jules had done something, and that Kennedy was spilling the beans. Nope, it was HERBIE. He wrote all over their bathroom mirror! Little graffiti elf.

IMG_3228

The next morning, we saw that he had stuck himself into our blinds!

IMG_3231

I think the next day was Kennedy’s favorite Herbie day. We found that he had put ALL of Kennedy’s underwear on our Christmas tree! She was giggling so much this entire day, and was telling everyone what Herbie did.

IMG_3230

Mommy found Herbie in her cabinet the next morning hiding in a glass!

IMG_3235

Jules found that little stinker the next day hanging as d├ęcor on the wall in her room! (You will be happy to note I have put a picture into the 5×7 frame since I took this…it only took 2 years)

IMG_3232

Mommy found Herbie the next day in the hallway by her closet. He was in a birdcage!

IMG_3236

Two days before Christmas, Herbie wrapped our dining room table in wrapping paper! All that work got him tangled up in the ribbon hanging from the light!

Just like last year on Christmas Eve, we found that Herbie drew on our family picture! Last year he gave us red noses, and this year we received glasses! (Yes, we need our family picture updated)

We had so much fun with you this year, Herbie! Can’t wait to see you next December!

May Your Sweaters Be Ugly & Bright!

We hosted the annual Tacky Sweater Party in Seth’s kitchen recently. The party is always a blast, and the fashion never disappoints.

Seth decided on elegant tacky this year, while I chose mis match tacky. Old fashioned sweatshirt & a tree skirt completed the look!

My friends came decorate the night before and did an awesome job. The decorations get more tacky each year. How much fun are those balloon lights!?

Seth cooked a gumbo, and everyone brought some goodies. We had a ton of food…it was so festive.

Christmas at Nana & Grampi’s

Our first get together for Christmas this year was at my Mom & Dad’s house. All seven grandkids were excited to open their goodies.

It’s so loud and so crazy, but it goes by SO fast! Love this time every year!

Herbie Lately

Herbie has been so crafty lately! When we woke up one morning, we found that he built a snowman out of toilet paper! Kennedy’s response to this was, “But Mom, he is using stuff that we really need!”

IMG_3186

IMG_3187

He was so sweet the next day when he wrote, “I LOVE YOU” with the help of some candy canes!

IMG_3188

After we searched and searched the next day for Herbie, we finally found him bundled up in our refrigerator! (The amount of alcohol I had to crop out from this picture is quite embarrassing) :/

IMG_3189

He must have been really cold in there, because the next day we found him snoozing under a blanket in Jules’ room. He even made himself a pillow!

IMG_3191

Kennedy found Herbie the next day – sitting on the window sill in the girls bathroom! Kennedy said, “I hope he doesn’t jump in when we are taking our bath!”

IMG_3194

IMG_3195

The following day, we found Herbie hanging upside down from the ice maker!

IMG_3198

The next morning was tragic. As the girls were looking at Herbie being rocked by his friend he found in our Christmas Tree, he accidently fell out…onto the floor. If that wasn’t enough, our dog came and walked all over Herbie :( Long story short, he healed himself and all is well in Elf World. You can read all about the tragedy HERE.

IMG_3205

All the excitement from the day before must have made Herbie really hungry. We found him in the pretzel container eating our pretzels!

IMG_3215

The next morning we noticed a glow coming from the girls bathroom. That little stinker wrapped the toilet in colorful lights!

IMG_3224

He was feeling very playful the next day when Kennedy found him in her room playing in her dollhouse! He was sitting in a chair getting warm and cozy by the fire.

IMG_3222

Jules found Herbie the next morning hanging from the kitchen cabinet!

IMG_3220

Herbie must have loved Kennedy’s snowman she made at school, because the next day we found him giving that snowman a big hug!
