Jules’ Field Trip – Fast Food Farm & Pumpkin Patch

I was excited about this field trip since I had been on the same one last year with Kennedy. It is so neat and different.

The Fast Food Farm offers kids the opportunity to learn about produce from plants and animals. They also perform experiments with the kids and allow them to make crafts.

Jules’ most exciting part of the day was riding “the real” yellow school bus. She thought she was SO big. She could not stop smiling.

When we arrived, we went straight to one of the animals – Wilbur the pig! Some of the students were a little afraid of Wilbur, but not my Julesy! That girl loves animals.

Next they got to plant some wheat seeds in the soil!

Next they were able to visit the chickens and learn about eggs! Poor little chicks LOL

They then built a huge hamburger as a class, and made “hamburger” snacks out of crackers, cookies, and icing.

Then it was time to learn about cows…and milking them! They were able to “milk” Maisy the cow and learn about what products could be made from milk.

One cute craft they made was putting spots on a cow with their fingerprints.

They also made their very own playdough with flour and oil!

The last stop was in the kitchen where they participated in an activity to learn about soil. The kids were happy that it included graham crackers, pudding, and gummy worms :)

I kept laughing at Jules who kept making faces at herself in the overhead mirror.

Before heading to the pumpkin patch, the kids were able to eat their lunch and play on the playground. The Fast Food Farm was the perfect field trip for their ages! Thanks to the PreK-3 teachers for planning and taking the class!

The bus then took us to the Pumpkin Patch were the class rode on the hay ride, walked through the “haunted” house, looked at all the pumpkins, and walked through the trail walk. They also got to pick a small pumpkin to take home.
