Our dance recital this year was a honky tonkin’ good time, as all the drama scenes and dances were featured around a country western theme.
Kennedy’s tap number was performed to “These Boot’s Are Made For Walkin'” By Nancy Sinatra. Their little boot covers were precious over their taps!
Jules was up next with her ballet dance. “Walkin’ After Midnight” by Patsy Cline was the perfect song for their vintage ballet costumes (complete with gloves and a hair net clip) – just precious!
Next up was Ms. Kennedy performing her ballet dance to “Wildflower” – I love this costume! It’s a favorite to play dress up with now.
This year, our studio performed a mom/alumni dance. The girls were so excited that I got to perform on the stage just like they did. Even though the body doesn’t move like it used to, they were so proud. Jules kept saying, “Mommy you did beautiful!”
“Cowboy’s Sweetheart” was next. I love this tap dance that Jules’ class performed – her favorite part was the “lasso” – she is so funny.
Since Kennedy moved up one class this year, that meant she was able to perform a jazz dance! She was thrilled. They danced to “Our Song” by Taylor Swift, and her favorite part was the ending. When everyone took a bow, she was able to stay on the stage for the finale of the dance…a roundoff off by herself on stage. She was so proud, and she was beaming. She talked about this all day!
The girls each received a medal for honorable mention in the program’s ad contest. Jules was extremely proud of this medal. As the rest of the awards went on, she kept waving to me and showing us her medal.
Since this was Kennedy’s 4th year in dancing, she received a special trophy in recognition of her years….and Jules was still showing off her medal ;)
My girls did an awesome job this year, and we are so proud of them!
