Gymnastics Exhibition 2017

We had one excited gymnast this weekend. She had been looking forward to their gymnastics exhibition for a while now! Her biggest fan was following her around like a little duckling.

dsc_0117

Kennedy doesn’t compete yet, but she is sure looking forward to competition days. We attended the gym’s latest competition recently to make sure she knew what competition is all about. That just fueled the fire more!

On exhibition day, she showed off beam and floor routine. We are so proud of how far she has come in one year!

I was sure proud of myself for Kennedy’s bun – it took me one year to get it right, but we finally found the technique. Kennedy has some of the thickest hair I have ever seen, so her high bun has been a challenge. It falls out every practice. FINALLY we found something that works for her – that bun probably weighed 5 pounds with all her hair.

Our little gymnast was so excited for her trophy – she made sure to let us know it was even bigger than last years!

Jules kept asking when it was her turn! I have a feeling we will have two little gymnasts on our hands :)

She’s a lucky girl to be coached by the best! Another year for the books – great job, love bug :)

Day 3 – HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

Our last day was spent at Hollywood Studios. We started off our day with breakfast at the resort. The girls’ favorite was Mickey waffles with syrup & bananas.

img_8745

studio_hbfivedm_20170105_7914911947

Once we got to the park, we headed to the major attractions we wanted to see first. On our way there, we noticed some actors on the street. We stopped to watch for a moment as they laid out a red carpet. They asked for volunteers to walk down. Kennedy immediately hid behind me (because we all know she is SO shy). Jules, however, walked right up the carpet and started strutting her stuff! She even gave a pose at the end! That’s her momma’s girl!

dsc_0535

dsc_0536

dsc_0537

We headed to The Twilight Zone – Terror of Terror before the line was too long. Again I explained the ride, showed YouTube vidoes…and my girls still wanted to ride! I love that they were fearless this entire time! Makes it so much more fun to experience when they are down for anything!

They are still talking about this ride – they absolutely loved it!

dsc_0549

studio_towerofterrorbride_20170105_7914235314

Next we headed to Toy Story – Midway Mania where we were able to “shoot” toys, bulleyes, etc. This was super fun! The wait gets long here as well, but luckily we had a FastPass.

On our way to our next FastPass, the girls relaxed for some face painting!

dsc_0567

Next we headed to For the First Time in Forever – A Frozen Sing Along Celebration. We scored second row seats right in the center. What an awesome show! It’s hilarious!

After a quick snack, we headed to Voyage of The Little Mermaid. The park was full of Star Wars fans, characters, and souvenirs. We even ran into these guys in the street!

dsc_0577

dsc_0553

After we rode The Great Movie Ride (their favorite part was The Wizard of Oz) we headed to Disney Junior – Live on Stage! This by far would have been Easton’s favorite. Next time, buddy!

dsc_0635

dsc_0634

Before we checked in for dinner, we saw Pluto in the street! Jules sleeps with Pluto every night – he is her favorite, so we had to meet him and give him a hug. She would not let him go – she was hugging him so tight! It was precious!

Dinner that night was a holiday dinner with Mickey & Friends at Hollywood and Vine. We net Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy, & Goofy! They were all dressed in their Christmas best!

We were laughing at Jules when Donald came to our table. She was eating her ice cream for dessert and just did not want to stop! I told her THE Donald Duck is at your table…put your spoon down! That girl sure does enjoy her food :)

Kennedy thought it was hilarious that she pretended like I was choking her in our Goofy picture. I didn’t notice until we looked at the pictures afterwards! Can’t take that girl anywhere!

studio_dinepmchar_20170105_7914892081

We could not have ended our vacation on a more perfect show. When I booked our dinner, we scored Fantasmic! center section tickets. The center section was reserved for holiday dinner guests. We sat a couple of rows from the bottom – perfect seats! I cannot brag on this show enough – it was AWESOME. Water show, lasers, fireworks, surprises….must see!

Since we brought autograph books last time (which the girls look at often), I bought blank canvas bags for the characters to sign. I used iron-on decals to make it Disney-like, and we had the characters sign in red. We love the way they came out!

img_8795

We had a quick trip, but it was so worth going. Such a memorable and fun girls trip. Thanks to Nana & Grampi for all the help…and we are so glad our Hailey Bug was able to come! Until next time, Disney!

Day 2 – MAGIC KINGDOM

We woke up early to be at the opening of Magic Kingdom on our second day. We were able to watch many of the characters come in on Mickey’s train!

We took a boat ride through It’s A Small World, then soared through Neverland on Peter Pan’s Flight.

We took a breather while we relaxed on a boat through the Jungle Cruise, then headed to ride the Magic Carpets of Aladdin per Kennedy’s request!

I love walking through Magic Kingdom – it feels so old and so fresh at the same time. I love seeing the princesses castles, too!

We headed to Splash Mountain…their first thrill ride. I explained the ride, I showed them YouTube videos , and they still wanted to ride! They could not stand their excitement when they stood next to the height requirement sign!

dsc_0451

We were in the first row. To say we got soaked is an understatement. Poor Jules got it the worst. They LOVED the ride, but HATED being wet afterwards! We had to go in the bathroom and dry them off as best as we could. They were troopers, though!

mk_splash_20170104_7913337374

Next we headed to the Haunted Mansion. The girls thought it was hilarious that there were ghosts sitting in our ride seats!

The Barnstormer was a fun ride – Goofy’s favorite. The ride was super fun, and super short! Wish it would have been longer!

We were so excited to use a FastPass on the Seven Dwarves Mine Train. This was one of my personal favorites. The girls had belly laughs throughout this entire ride.

We loved Cinderella’s Happily Ever After Dinner so much the last time, that we decided to book it again. We hitched a ride on Disney’s monorail straight to The Grand Floridian resort.

While we ate the buffet dinner, Prince Charming & Cinderella came visit our table. They then had a short dance in the middle of the ballroom :)

To our disappoint, the stepsisters AND stepmother were unavailable that night. (Stepmother was there, but fell sick within the first 10 minutes) To make up for their absence, Cinderella called a couple of her mouse friends to come to the picture spot. The girls thought it was hilarious that Nana took a picture with a mouse (she is terrified of mice).

Another magical day in Disney! I cannot believe neither of these girls napped the entire time. Momma surely could have used a nap!

Day 1 – EPCOT

We booked our trip through a free travel agency that Disney provides – and our local agent just so happens to be a friend! Sadie at Say Magical Vacations was so helpful in all of our planning, and she sent us a bag of goodies the week of the trip!

We had an early flight to Orlando, and the girls were up at 3:30am ready to roll. They walked through the airport and rode the plane like they travel all the time – no big deal!

We checked into our hotel – Port of Orleans Riverside. Such a pretty place!

dsc_0289

We dropped our luggage off at our resort and headed straight to Epcot. The park was packed, so we knew we had to ride the most popular attractions first.

The girls made the height requirements for most rides (Jules is 40 inches exactly), so they were thrilled to learn we would be riding the majority of the rides at Disney. We waited for a while at Soarin’, but it was so worth the wait. We soared through some of the most beautiful places in the world!

epcot_igfrlowbridgeicon_20170103_7912765327

Next we headed to The Seas with Nemo & Friends. We traveled under water to see Nemo, Dory and all their friends.

Next we headed to the ride they were waiting for….Frozen Ever After…the reason we went to Epcot in the first place. This attraction was being created when we visited 2 years ago, so we were excited to ride the finished product. It was so beautiful! The girls still talk about this ride.

To finish off an amazing first day, we had dinner with the princesses at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. We first met Belle in the lobby – Jules kept touching her dress…she just couldn’t help herself.

epcot_norwaydining1char_20170103_7912968429

While we were eating, Ariel, Cinderella, Aurora, and Snow White all came visit our table. They talked so sweetly and told us a little bit about their lives at their castles. I love seeing the magic in the girls’ eyes.

We Are Going To…

It’s been 2 years since we had our magical Disney vacation, and I was getting the Disney itch…bad. A week long family trip was not in the cards for us this year, so I proposed a girls trip. Daddy was not upset about having the house to himself with Easton :)

Nana decided to come along…and we asked the other grandkids. Hailey was the only one who jumped on the bandwagon, so it ended up being a true girls trip.

When we went 2 years ago, I told the girls when there were 10 days left to leave. That was TOO long to wait. They had no concept of 10 days. This time, I decided to wait until 2 days before we left. I created a scavenger hunt for them….they had to find clues all over Nana’s house. The clues would spell a special message :)

dsc_0356

dsc_0359

ribbet-collage1

dsc_0360

The clues were hidden all over. Each time they would find one, it would give them a clue to where the next one was hiding. They absolutely LOVED finding clues. In fact, when we got home, they wanted to play “scavenger hunt” again.

dsc_0362

dsc_0365

ribbet-collage2

dsc_0371

dsc_0373

Each clue held a letter to the special message. There were numbers on the back of the letters to help them “spell” it later :)

dsc_0377

dsc_0378

dsc_0380

dsc_0379

When they found all the clues, I laid out the message board for them – it was time to figure out the message!

ribbet-collage3

I had them put the letters where they went on the board. They knew where the letters went, because the numbers on the back told them where to place them on the board.

dsc_0383

dsc_0386

Finally, we unveiled the message. Kennedy had the honor of reading it out loud.

dsc_0397

Their first questions were, “When!? Today!? Tomorrow!?” I told Seth I should have waited to tell them on the way to the airport!!! They were SO excited when they found out their cousin Hailey was coming with us – they look up to her so much. I told them it would be a quick trip, but it was better than not going at all! We had a lot to do in 3 days, and we could not wait to begin.

Christmas Morning 2016

Christmas Morning this year started like every other year….the kids woke to find the presents that Santa brought. Kennedy was excited about her gym mat, Jules her ipad, and Easton his big boy wagon!

dsc_0243

About an hour after they woke up, Jules told me her stomach hurt. Apparently, Santa brought the stomach virus, too :( Quick change of plans for our day!

dsc_0276

Our day was spent inside, while Mommy & Daddy took turns gong to visit family. Poor Jules was such a trooper, though. Everyone is feeling better now, and we are looking forward to a happy and healthy 2017!

Holiday Time

We can barely keep up at this time of year! Our holiday festivities started with presents and celebration with our cousins from the “Becnel” gang.
