Farewell, Herbie!

Easton loved that Herbie went fishing in our sink one day. He talked about Herbie’s fishing pole all day long.

That crazy elf got into Mom’s makeup brushes the next morning!

32

When I made my coffee the next morning, I found that stinker in one of my cups!

34

Herbie got himself all tangled (literally) when we found that he tried to play Elf Twister!

33

That must have really hurt his leg, because he had a bandage on it the next day! Ouch!

I loved hearing all the giggles the next day. Just like last year, Herbie stole my phone in the night and got into my Snapchat app. The girls were laughing so hard at the pictures and video he left for them to see!

When we went to fix cups of milk the next day, we found Herbie in the fridge!

43

He surely warmed up the next morning – that elf is so corny ;)

44

It was bittersweet the next morning when we found that he left us a farewell message. We surely miss him every year when he goes – he brings so much magic to the Christmas season! Thanks for another fun year, Herbie!

That Crazy Elf!

Herbie continued his shenanigans in the kids bathroom one morning. We found him sitting on the toilet with a poop emoji face!

15

Easton was all smiles when we found Herbie the next day with Mickey & Minnie Mouse! When we looked closer, we noticed that Herbie had on his own Mickey ears!

16

17

He thought he was a baby the next day…we caught him in a baby doll carrier wrapped in a blanket…drinking a bottle!
18

The next day I heard, “How did he do that!?” Mr. Herbie made a snowman out of the girls’ door in their room!

19

The girls were not happy the next day when they found that Herbie put them on the naughty list. In fact, he put our entire family on the naughty list….and HE was the only one on the nice list!! What a stinker!

20

That day, Kennedy lost her third tooth. She anxiously put her tooth under her pillow so that the Tooth Fairy would pass. When she woke up the next morning, she found a special note from Herbie. He actually met the Tooth Fairy!! He said she was full of glitter!

21

22

They were all giggles the next day when they found Herbie on the balance beam. There were even judges giving him scores! They kept pointing out deductions they saw in his form!

23

That night, that little stinker snuck into my room and drew on our honeymoon picture!

24

The kids were all wide-eyed the next day when we found Herbie dangling from the attic string in the hallway. He was disguised as Spiderman himself!

25

He had a sleepover that night with some friends (girls!!??). They were using socks as sleeping bags, and they had paper towels for pillows!

26

Herbie brought a special gift the next day. The kids have been wanting their very own manger, and that’s exactly what he brought! I was blown away by how well they knew the details of the story.

Judges Holiday Classic 2017

Kennedy had her game face on for her second gymnastic competition. As she stretched on the barricades before the meet, her biggest fan Jules was right behind!

The next event was Vault which she scored 9.050 and place 2nd in her division.

Next rotation was Bars. I thought her bar routine looked pretty good! Judges found some deductions, because she scored a 8.875. I guess that’s why I’m not a judge….gold medals for everybody! LOL She placed 7th in bars.

She could not stop smiling when she received her first gold medal (for floor). She told me her neck hurt from all those medals! The icing on the cake when their Level 1 team won first place!! They have such a good group.

3rd place all-around is not too shabby for her second meet! We are so proud of you, Kenn!

Our One Day of White

Living in South Louisiana, we don’t see snow very often. Every several years (when it does “snow”), it’s usually not enough to even stay on the ground. This past weekend, however, we were in for a huge white surprise.

The news kept predicting snow flurries. We thought we would get sleet here and there, but nothing major. The schools closed for wintery weather conditions, but we were still not expecting much. I watched out the window for two hours until it finally came. I woke the enter house up as I was jumping up and down.

The kids went out in their pajamas, because we honestly thought this was all we were getting….a couple of flurries.

Easton wasn’t too impressed at first…

When we thought it was over, we came inside and lit a fire. The girls drank hot chocolate to warm up.

DSC_0222p

To our surprise, it started again…this time harder! It started sticking to the ground which we never see here!

Our neighbors walked over, and everyone could not stop smiling. It was so exciting. I don’t think the kids realize how rare it is that we got so much snow!

I told the kids we had to build a snowman. It was on my bucket list! I had no clue I would be able to cross that off at my own house! We piled some snow together from various places and we made the tiniest and cutest little snowman ever.

As it kept accumulating on the ground, we decided to make a “big” snowman! All the neighborhood helped – it is one of my favorite memories.

I made all of the kids take a picture with the snowman. Easton was ready for his nap, but I made him take one anyway – how many times do you get to take a picture with a snowman in your front yard, son!?

Ribbet collage5

What other fun can you have in the snow? Snow angels!! Mom, Dad, and Jules were the only brave enough fools to lay their bodies on the freezing ground. Not to mention we did not have the adequate clothes for snow….oh well….YOLO!

Harley and Deuce didn’t know what in the world was going on that day. Harley kept licking the snow. Deuce wanted to come outside so bad, but his little 2 pound self would have froze to death. I wrapped him in a blanket and let him come for a little while, but he was shivering!

I really could not stop taking pictures. The white rooftops of all the houses, the snow covered sugar cane, just the raw beauty of it all…I was so amazed.

We just stayed outside most of the day…taking it all in before it melted away the next day.

It was bittersweet going to bed that night knowing it was only one day. It literally was one of the best days, and I will remember it for a long time. It was such a nice surprise, too! Thank you, Lord, for your beautiful creation!

Our Visit With The Big Guy – Meah B. Photography

The kids dressed in their Christmas pajamas to sit on Santa’s lap this year. They could not contain their excitement. I was nervous for Mr. Easton’s reaction…he does not mesh well with strangers – especially if they want him to sit on their lap!

AR9A8230

To my surprise, he walked up to Santa all by himself! He was amazed that Santa had black boots just like he owned! He kept commenting on the boots.

AR9A8237

Kennedy Marie asked for “real” makeup and PlayDoh.  Kennedy is a creator, so she loves to mold PlayDoh into food, decorations, grass, etc.

AR9A8266

Jules Camryn asked Santa for “real” makeup, PlayDoh, and Shopkins! She has PlayDoh and Shopkins at home already, but I guess her stash is running low!?

AR9A8258

Easton Matthew surely asked Santa for a “cane cutta.” Santa looked at me and said, “Did he just say cane cutter?” Yes sir, Santa, that’s what he wants! He also added “…and candy.” This year is so fun with him – he is starting to truly get in the Christmas magic spirit.

AR9A8278

Speaking of Christmas magic, all of a sudden, it started to snow in the studio! Easton wasn’t a fan of the snow machine (it was loud), but the girls loved getting covered.

AR9A8288

Christmas as a child is truly magical, but Christmas as an adult when you have kids of your own is truly amazing.

The Return of Our Favorite Elf

When all the neighbors’ elves came the day after Thanksgiving, Kennedy & Jules were getting concerned that Herbie forgot to come to our house! Finally, a couple of days later, he showed up in a delivery box. He told the girls the traffic was so bad at the North Pole, he hitched a ride on the UPS truck!

DSC_0191

DSC_0192

DSC_0193

I explained to Herbie that he better hide very high this year, because Easton does not realize he cannot touch Herbie. We definitely don’t want a situation like last year!

The next morning we found Herbie sitting next to a pretty lady….dressed in Barbie clothing!

DSC_0197

We woke up to a surprise the next day when he brought 3 little elf friends from the North Pole! He instructed the kids to put the elves on our Christmas tree so we would always remember elf magic.

Herbie got into the fridge that night and left us a smiley message!

DSC_0208

Easton was all smiles the next morning when he found Herbie riding his tractor!

DSC_0209

I heard giggles from the bathroom the next morning when the girls found Herbie hanging around in the shower! They took a bathe in my bathtub that night, because they were nervous he would come down!

DSC_0214

We watched the movie ELF that night, and Herbie must have been watching, too! We found him drinking syrup the next morning (Buddy the elf does this in the movie).

DSC_0215

The next day I heard, “Really, Herbie!?” Herbie put on gymnastics medals and posed himself by the trophies!
