Our Favorite Elf is BACK!

To say we have been busy over the last month would be a huge understatement. So busy, in fact, I have not had time to update this blog in over a month! We are back just in time, though, to share some photos of our favorite elf from the North Pole.

Herbie returned the day after Thanksgiving. He flew through the wrong window in our house, and ended up in our coffee bar!

DSC_9069

The next morning we found him singing nursery rhymes in Mom’s teapot!

DSC_9071

The kids were all giggles when we found he was trapped on the fridge in Easton’s underwear!

DSC_9073

That little stinker took one of our marshmallows and made himself comfy by a fire.

DSC_9077

He thought he was taking some of our cookies the next day, but he actually took the dog treats! I don’t think he was happy.

DSC_9078

He was showing respect for our manger scene by taking off his hat and kneeling the next day. The girls wanted to know why he was getting bald!

DSC_9081

All the kids had to brush their teeth in Mom & Dad’s bathroom the next morning. Herbie filled their sink with marshmallows to take a bubble bath!

DSC_9085

As we were getting dressed for church the next morning, we found him in our Advent wreath reminding us it was the first Sunday in Advent!

DSC_9083

He flew very high the next day…we almost did not find where he was hiding! He was at the top of our Christmas tree!

DSC_9086

I had to leave for four days and head to Texas for a work trip. I was super nervous at how Herbie would act without me around. However, he did not miss a beat! The kids Facetimed me every morning to show me where Herbie was before they left for school. One morning he was in our utility room trying to buy some laundry service!

IMG_5096

He flew to the light and then to the bathroom the next days. On the night I came home, we found him making snow angels in the kitchen!

IMG_5137

Easton was fussing Herbie the next morning when he found that he was riding his train. I bet Herbie was nervous being so close to the ground, but Easton did a great job of not touching him once!

DSC_9092

“MOMMA! O.M.G!!,” is all I heard from the bathroom the next morning. Herbie apparently poops tootsie rolls. Those elves are something else!!

DSC_9095

We found him admiring all of our Christmas cards we have been getting in the mail!

IMG_5247

That little stinker took the kids’ underwear and hung them on the tree! He does this every year, and the kids laugh and laugh.

DSC_9459

Another little elf told Herbie about this activity about giving. He set out a basket in the playroom and had the kids fill it up with toys they no longer played with. He took it to the North Pole that night to give to children who needed toys. I was actually surprised at how much they put into the basket. It was overflowing!

DSC_9461

We enjoy our time with Herbie so much during the holidays. He adds so much JOY to this season! We don’t have many more days left with him, so we are making the most out of his remaining days!

Bunny Days

We had a wonderful Easter filled with friends, family, and too much candy. We spent Easter Eve at Nana & Grampi’s house. The kids played games, had an Easter egg hunt, and dyed eggs.

Easter morning the girls were up bright and early to see what the Easter Bunny put in their baskets. Easton likes his sleep, so he just waited until later :)

We then got all dolled up to head to Aunt Lisa & Uncle Jason’s house to celebrate Uncle Jason’s Baptism! The kids stayed this clean for about 10 minutes!

Annual EGGstravaganza!

The kids were counting down the days until Aunt Connie’s Easter party she throws at her house every year. The crew just keeps growing, and everyone has a good time.

Our annual visitor, Mr. Easter Bunny himself, made his appearance. The kids all ran up to him when he came around the corner.

After the bunny hopped away, it was Easter Egg Hunt time! They had one yard for the older kids, and one yard for the younger kids. Easton picked ONE SINGLE EGG. He opened it, found a candy, and sat down and ate it while watching the others finish the hunt!

Jules found the GOLDEN EGG! Her little eyes lit up when she came running with that egg.

Amidst all of the excitement, Kennedy lost her 5th tooth! I love that crooked , holy smile!

DSC_0483p

It was a WINDY, but pretty day. All of the kids were in bed early from all of the games and excitement. We can’t thank Aunt Connie enough for putting this on every year. They surely look forward to it every Easter!

To give you an idea of how our crew has grown, I went back and pulled the first Easter party picture. Don’t drink the water around here!!!

To Everyone Else, It’s Just Tuesday…

We had a fun filled Mardi Gras with our family and friends! We went to our cousin’s house for some BBQ and parading. The kids absolutely loved running around and playing with their friends and cousins.

Easton just wanted to play ball…of course. I don’t care where we are, that boy will find someone to play ball.

There’s something about sitting under a tree, enjoying the company, and waiting for a Mardi Gras parade to pass. It just doesn’t get better!

When it was time for the parade to pass, the kids kept their hands up the entire time. They came home with way too many beads and stuffed animals. Easton caught 4 balls (like we need more), and they played “parade” when we got home.

Christmas Day 2017

I don’t know who gets more excited on Christmas morning…me or the kids. I could barely sleep, because I was so excited for them to see what Santa brought. They were up at 6:30am ready to run into the living room. Easton wanted to stay in a bed a little longer, so he came out a little later :)

DSC_0223

DSC_0224DSC_0235

After they saw the presents, I found something hidden in a bag on the side of the fireplace. The note read, “For Kennedy & Jules to SHARE, since these are so RARE.” I wondered what in the world Santa hid for them to find!

DSC_0237

I heard screams and giggles and they pulled out the one toy they asked for this year – a “limited edition” surprise L.O.L. ball. I don’t know how Santa found this bad boy, but he managed.

DSC_0238

DSC_0241

DSC_0250

Finally Mr. Easton woke up an hour later. He went straight to the toy I knew he would go to first….the fishing pole!

DSC_0258

Then his eyes got big when he saw his very own “cane cutta”. How did Santa know!?

We had a wonderful day spent with family and too much food. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! From our family to yours…

Who Dat Christmas

Seth scored two tickets at work for the Saints game against Atlanta….on Christmas Eve. I decided I did not want to leave the kids on Christmas Eve to go to the game. I could see he was disappointed since he loves his Saints so much. To my surprise, what did that sweet hubby of mine do!? He managed to score 3 more tickets….so that we could ALL go. I still don’t know if he did it to be sweet, or if that’s how bad he really wanted to see the game….I’m gonna go with sweet :)

I had so much anxiety traveling with three kids to the Superdome on Christmas Eve. Will they like it? Will it be too loud? Will they need to leave their seat every 5 minutes? Will this be enjoyable at all?

To my surprise, it was seriously one of the best times we had as a family ever. Everyone was smiling the whole time…the energy was awesome….no meltdowns…just an amazing memory we will always cherish. I cannot believe how smoothly it went….and they are still talking about “the Superdome.”

Easton was in awe with the ball, and the girls were in awe with the Saintsations. We actually passed the group when we were walking into the Dome, and they waved at Kennedy and Jules. They were all smiles!

IMG_3928

IMG_3933

In the first 20 minutes of the game, Jules & Easton fell asleep on me….really!? It was SOO loud..I have no idea how they stayed asleep. They took a nice 30 minute nap and woke up after the first touchdown.

IMG_3949

IMG_3935

I loved watching the kids cheer, dance, scream, clap, etc. They got SO into the game…much more than I thought they would.

IMG_3938

IMG_3941

It was a day I will remember for a long time – and I still smile when I think about the fun we had in the Dome. Thanks Dad for a memorable Christmas Eve!

The Whirlwind of Christmas

What day is it again!? The holidays have been a whirlwind, and I am just getting around to organizing all the pictures. Looking back through them all, I can’t believe we fit in all the activities we did.

Our friends had an awesome time at our annual party – this year’s theme was “Let it Glow, Let it Glow, Let it Glow.”

One of our favorite activities was when we went caroling with the neighbors. Everyone jumped on golf carts & four-wheelers and we sang door to door in the freezing cold. It was amazing!

IMG_3895

The kids were excited to open their first presents of the season at Nana & Grampi’s house. The girls asked Nana & Grampi for their very own Ashton-Drake doll. They are such good mommies to their dolls, and WE love playing with the babies. Yes, I have as much fun as they do :)

Farewell, Herbie!

Easton loved that Herbie went fishing in our sink one day. He talked about Herbie’s fishing pole all day long.

31

That crazy elf got into Mom’s makeup brushes the next morning!

32

When I made my coffee the next morning, I found that stinker in one of my cups!

34

Herbie got himself all tangled (literally) when we found that he tried to play Elf Twister!

33

That must have really hurt his leg, because he had a bandage on it the next day! Ouch!

IMG_3833

I loved hearing all the giggles the next day. Just like last year, Herbie stole my phone in the night and got into my Snapchat app. The girls were laughing so hard at the pictures and video he left for them to see!

38

When we went to fix cups of milk the next day, we found Herbie in the fridge!

43

He surely warmed up the next morning – that elf is so corny ;)

44

It was bittersweet the next morning when we found that he left us a farewell message. We surely miss him every year when he goes – he brings so much magic to the Christmas season! Thanks for another fun year, Herbie!

45

That Crazy Elf!

Herbie continued his shenanigans in the kids bathroom one morning. We found him sitting on the toilet with a poop emoji face!

15

Easton was all smiles when we found Herbie the next day with Mickey & Minnie Mouse! When we looked closer, we noticed that Herbie had on his own Mickey ears!

16

17

He thought he was a baby the next day…we caught him in a baby doll carrier wrapped in a blanket…drinking a bottle!
18

The next day I heard, “How did he do that!?” Mr. Herbie made a snowman out of the girls’ door in their room!

19

The girls were not happy the next day when they found that Herbie put them on the naughty list. In fact, he put our entire family on the naughty list….and HE was the only one on the nice list!! What a stinker!

20

That day, Kennedy lost her third tooth. She anxiously put her tooth under her pillow so that the Tooth Fairy would pass. When she woke up the next morning, she found a special note from Herbie. He actually met the Tooth Fairy!! He said she was full of glitter!

21

22

They were all giggles the next day when they found Herbie on the balance beam. There were even judges giving him scores! They kept pointing out deductions they saw in his form!

23

That night, that little stinker snuck into my room and drew on our honeymoon picture!

24

The kids were all wide-eyed the next day when we found Herbie dangling from the attic string in the hallway. He was disguised as Spiderman himself!

25

He had a sleepover that night with some friends (girls!!??). They were using socks as sleeping bags, and they had paper towels for pillows!

26

Herbie brought a special gift the next day. The kids have been wanting their very own manger, and that’s exactly what he brought! I was blown away by how well they knew the details of the story.

Our One Day of White

Living in South Louisiana, we don’t see snow very often. Every several years (when it does “snow”), it’s usually not enough to even stay on the ground. This past weekend, however, we were in for a huge white surprise.

The news kept predicting snow flurries. We thought we would get sleet here and there, but nothing major. The schools closed for wintery weather conditions, but we were still not expecting much. I watched out the window for two hours until it finally came. I woke the enter house up as I was jumping up and down.

The kids went out in their pajamas, because we honestly thought this was all we were getting….a couple of flurries.

DSC_0220

DSC_0219

When we thought it was over, we came inside and lit a fire. The girls drank hot chocolate to warm up.

DSC_0222p

To our surprise, it started again…this time harder! It started sticking to the ground which we never see here!

I made all of the kids take a picture with the snowman. Easton was ready for his nap, but I made him take one anyway – how many times do you get to take a picture with a snowman in your front yard, son!?

Ribbet collage5

What other fun can you have in the snow? Snow angels!! Mom, Dad, and Jules were the only brave enough fools to lay their bodies on the freezing ground. Not to mention we did not have the adequate clothes for snow….oh well….YOLO!

Ribbet collage6

Harley and Deuce didn’t know what in the world was going on that day. Harley kept licking the snow. Deuce wanted to come outside so bad, but his little 2 pound self would have froze to death. I wrapped him in a blanket and let him come for a little while, but he was shivering!

DSC_0340

I really could not stop taking pictures. The white rooftops of all the houses, the snow covered sugar cane, just the raw beauty of it all…I was so amazed.

We just stayed outside most of the day…taking it all in before it melted away the next day.
